Labor productivity in Vietnam

According to research by the Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR), by 2015, labor productivity in Vietnam's nine sectors is at the lowest or lowest level in the region. The study was conducted in comparison with countries in Northeast Asia (Japan, Korea, China) and ASEAN (Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Cambodia).

In the nine comparable countries, there are three groups of industries that Vietnam has low productivity in the manufacturing industry; build; transportation, storage, communication. The group stressed that it was lower than Cambodia.

The three sectors that Vietnam is more than Cambodia, but still lower than the other eight are agriculture; electricity, water, gas; wholesale, retail, repair.

Meanwhile, Vietnam is well appreciated for high productivity in mining, mining and quarrying. finance, real estate and office services; community, social and personal services.

VEPR recommends that Vietnam continue to create positive conditions to promote TFP growth as well as policies for training, improving knowledge and skills for employees. There should be policies to encourage innovation, creativity and technical improvement in production.
